Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Overview

The Ghorepani Poonhill trek is one of the most sought-after and family-friendly treks in Nepal. This is a relatively easier trek for beginners since the maximum altitude is 3210m, and the whole trek is of short duration. Nonetheless, this trip is filled with adventure, excitement, and experiences that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

As soon as you arrive in Kathmandu, our staff will be there to receive you personally and take you to the hotel. Once you get refreshed, you will be taken to various cultural sites in Kathmandu, such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and anywhere that you request. Kathmandu is the hub of Nepal, where you can find a mix of culture and traditions. The next morning, you will leave for Pokhara and reach by late afternoon. Here, you can spend your evening exploring the beautiful Lakeside. You will take a drive to Nayapul and make your first trek to Banthanti. The next day, you start your trek to Ghorepani. The trail may be a bit steep as you pass through forests of oaks and rhododendrons. At Ghorepani, you can enjoy the views of the Annapurna I (8091m) and Annapurna South (7219m). You will hike to Poon Hill early in the morning to view the sunrise over mountains in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. While returning to Pokhara, you can enjoy the natural hot springs available in Tatopani. The best time for this trek would be from March to May and September to November as the temperature is mild, and there are very few chances of unpredictable weather.

As soon as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our staff will be there to receive you and drop you to your hotel. After getting refreshed in your hotel, our guides will take you to visit some of the famous heritage sites of Kathmandu, such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. If you wish to visit any other places, you can inform us, and we will take you there.

After an early breakfast, you will travel to Pokhara. On the way, you can enjoy the views of Trishuli River, Manakamana, Malekhu, and Mugling Bazaar along the way. You will reach Pokhara in the late afternoon. You can spend the evening strolling along the Lakeside. Moreover, you can also take a boat ride on Phewa Lake and enjoy the surreal view.

We will leave for Nayapul early in the morning. It will take approximately 2 hours to reach there. We can have breakfast and get refreshed there before we begin our first trek to Banthanti. On your way to Banthanti, you will come across thick forests of rhododendrons and oaks. There is a steep uphill climb before you reach the village of Banthanti.

After breakfast, you will make your way to Ghorepani. You will again pass through forests of rhododendrons and enjoy the view of Hiunchuli (6441m) along the way. We will stop on the way to Nangethanti for lunch. We make our way to Ghorepani for an overnight stay there, where you can learn about the culture and tradition of the Gurung people living there.

You will take a hike to Poon Hill early in the morning to view the sunrise as this is the main attraction. You do not need to carry your rucksack since we will be returning the same way. From Poon Hill, you get a magnificent view of Mt. Annapurna (8091m) and Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) along with many other mountains in the Lamjung and Gangapurna ranges. Then, you descend back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, you make your way to Tadapani. As you make the descent, you will come across a fantastic view of the rural hillsides. You can stop in a village called Deurali, and you reach Tadapani in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, we make our way to Jhinu Danda. The trail to Jhinu descends alongside the Modi River as you trek to Jhinu. This is a mostly downhill trek where you come across forests of rhododendrons, oaks, and bamboos. You can take a relaxing bath in the hot spring and relieve the strain from days of trekking.

After breakfast, you will begin the trek to Pothana. Pothana is a small village that is usually the hub for other treks also such as Annapurna Base Camp trek, Gurung Heritage trek, etc. You are almost at the end of the trek so, and this will be your last chance to take in the beautiful view. Pothana is a small village of dominantly Gurung and Magar people, and you can try the local cuisine in the evening. Overnight stay in Pothana.

You are now on your way to Phedi. While on this trek, you will also come across a village called Dhampus. It is a hub for trekkers going to Annapurna Base Camp. You can see beautiful forages of rhododendrons on the way. When you reach Phedi, a jeep will take you to Pokhara. You will reach Pokhara during the late afternoon.
