Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with a sightseeing tour.
Day 03: Fly to Paro 2,280 / 7,524 ft. Bhutan national carries. Druk Air.
Day 04: In Paro, a tour of Tiger’s Nest at 3,210 m/ 10,2040 ft.
Day 05: Drive to Thimphu 2,320m / 7,656ft (54 k.m) – 02 hrs.
Day 06: At Thimphu for a cultural tour.
Day 07: Drive to Gangtey 2,830 m (180 k.m) – 05 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Gogona village 3,000 m (15 k.m) – 06 hrs.
Day 09: To Khoatokha 2,617 m via Shobju La 3,600 m (15 k.m)-06 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Wangdi Phodrang 1,236 m (14 k.m) – 06 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Chuzomsa via Tashila pass 2,780 m and drive to
Thimphu – 04 hours’ drive.
Day 12: Morning drive to Paro airport for international flights.
Trip details:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel.
Upon reaching Kathmandu International Airport via respective airlines and countries, it was received by Brown Bear Trail staff. Then, a short drive to your hotel, which is located in the heart of Kathmandu city. After a rest to refresh from the jet lag, the staff will brief regarding the hotel and culture, with do’s and don’ts for Gangtey-Gogona Tour & Treks. An evening welcome dinner in a Nepali restaurant will be held to experience Nepalese and Tibetan cuisines before departing for Bhutan.
Day 02: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
After breakfast, our city guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of places of interest around Kathmandu. Steeped with famous landmarks and renowned heritage sites of temples, monasteries, stupas, and old royal palaces.
After an enjoyable and interesting tour back to the hotel, preparation for the Gangtey-Gogona Tour & Treks.
Day 03: Fly to Paro 2,280 / 7,524 ft. via Bhutan’s national carrier, Druk Air.
Depending upon the flight time to Paro, Bhutan’s international airport.
In the morning or the afternoons, the staff will transfer you to Kathmandu International Airport after checking in. Get on board Bhutan’s national carrier, “Druk Air,” for a super scenic flight to Paro. During an hour’s flight, enjoy the superb panorama of the Himalayan Mountain ranges, including views of
Mt. Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. Then, the plane makes a smooth landing at Paro airport to enter Bhutan.
After immigration and visa formalities, our native guide of Bhutan receives you with a traditional greeting. Then, with a short drive to the hotels in Paro, the afternoon is free for leisure.
Day 04: In Paro, sightseeing tour with Tiger’s Nest at 3,210 m/ 10,2040 ft.
The morning after breakfast, our native guide of Bhutan will take you on a pleasant walk or short drive. For an hour hike with a steep climb to Bhutan’s famous old Taktsang Monastery known as Tiger’s Nest. A place for retreats and meditation of many Buddhist monks and high priests of Bhutan.
The monastery stands on an overhanging rock cliff with fantastic views of Paro town and valley. As well as snow peaks towards far north, a steep downhill brings you down for a short drive. Enjoy the tour and visit the 17th-century Ta-Dzong, later converted into the National Museum in 1967. After lunch, the rest of the afternoon is free for leisure.
Day 05: Drive to Thimphu 2,320m / 7,656ft (54 k.m) – 02 hrs.
The morning after breakfast, depart for Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, after an
Interesting overnights and activities in Paro. A drive of two hours leads around scenic countryside, dotted with farm villages and terraces. A typical Bhutanese landscape is interwoven with Buddhist culture, similar to its Tibetan predecessors across the border in Tibet.
On arrival at Thimphu, a semi-modern capital city, check into a nice hotel.
After lunch and getting refreshed, our native Bhutanese guide will take you on a tour of the memorial stupa. Include the visit to the Indigenous hospital, where traditional medicines are practiced, and the ancient art of painting school.
Day 06: At Thimphu for a guided tour of places of interest.
The morning after breakfast, our native guide will lead you to the respective monasteries and places of interest. After the tour, have a good lunch, explore the Thimphu market area, and experience the local cultures and daily activities.
Day 07: Drive to Gangtey 2,830 m (Distance 180 k.m) – 05 hrs.
After a pleasant and relaxing time in Thimphu, the morning after breakfast,
with an exciting drive heading southwest of Thimphu towards Gangtey around Phobjikha Valley. A scenic drive uphill to a high country facing fabulous scenery and traditional villages. After hours of scenic good drive reach Gangtey for an overnight stop. Enjoy the comfort of a farm guesthouse in the backdrop of beautiful landscapes.
Day 08: Trek to Gogona village 3,000 m (15 k.m) – 06 hrs.
Starting the morning walk, quite a long day trek to Gogona Village, the highest overnight stop of the trip. The trail follows through rural farm villages and well-tended terraces. It is one of the best ways to experience Bhutan’s country life and activities. The walk then leads through a lovely forest lined with rhododendrons, cedar, pines, and fir trees. Then, ending the good interesting hikes reaching Gogona Village and its old majestic Monastery. Transfer to a local homely Guest House in the harmony of traditional hospitality.
Day 09: To Khoatokha 2,617 m via Shobju La at 3,600 m (15 k.m) – 06 hrs.
After an overnight at Gogona, the day walks start for six hours.
The trail follows through nice farm areas and quaint villages. Then begins a steep climb to the top of Shobju La passing at 3,600 meters. On the highest points of the journey, surrounded by dramatic landscapes and scenery with views of snow-clad peaks.
After a short rest with grand vistas, descend towards a wide valley to Khoatokha village for overnight stops. Check into another homely guesthouse with warm, traditional hospitality.
Day 10: Trek to Wangdi Phodrang 1,236 m (14 k.m.) – 06 hrs.
From Khoatokha, the morning leads on a winding path through the pristine forest of rhododendron-magnolia-birch and fir, pine trees. The walk leads towards typical Bhutanese hamlets and then reaches Wangdi Phodrang for overnight stops in a lovely guest house. Wangdue Phodrang is a town and capital of Wangdue Phodrang District of central Bhutan. Located in Thedtsho Gewog, Khothang Rinchenling County province.
Day 11: Trek to Chuzomsa via Tashila pass 2,780 m and drive to
Thimphu – 04-hour journey.
Today is the last day of trekking to Chu Zomsa, a small farm village.
The morning walk follows through interesting farmlands and villages with views of distant high snow peaks after a couple of hours of nice trek and then a climb to the last pass of Tashila 3,780 m of this trek to reach Chuzomsa village for the drive back to Thimphu, from here about four hours of scenic drive to Thimphu for overnight stop in respective hotels.
Day 12: Morning drive to Paro airport for respective destinations.
As per the flight time to Kathmandu or connecting with other Indian cities, our Bhutan guide will transfer you to Paro International Airport for the flight back to Kathmandu or Delhi. As well as to your respective connecting airport for international flights homeward bound. For those flying to Nepal, upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, our staff will transfer you back to the hotel.
Day 13: International departure for homeward bound.
It was my last day in Nepal, after a wonderful time at Bhutan with the grand services of Brown Bear Trails. According to the international flight departure time, our guide and staff will transfer you to the airport for a homeward-bound flight or to your respective countries.
