Everest Panorama Trek Overview

Behold the nature’s grandeur, Mt. Everest, and others in Mahalangur mountain range with us in the Everest Panorama Trek. It is a relatively easy mountainous trek in the country and a perfect destination for trekking enthusiasts who love decent physical challenges. Along with the mesmerizing Everest Himalayas, the trek offers easy access to the Sherpa culture and traditions. Moreover, the wonders of the Sagarmatha National Park offer breathtaking refreshments on the way.

This trek is a 12-day itinerary and stretches from Kathmandu to the Khumbu valley. The main attractions are scintillating views of snowy peaks like Mt. Everest (8848m), Makalu (8481m), Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7861m), Thamserku (6608m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and many others in the Everest range. You’ll get to know about Sherpa Community too. These people are a homogeneous and remarkably isolated population in the country. Namche Bazaar has Everest Gallery and Sherpa- Culture Museum. There are many monasteries, including the famous Tengboche Monastery.

You’ll fly from Kathmandu to the Tenzing Hilary Airport in Lukla. On the same day, we trek to Phakding and next day to Namche Bazaar. You stay there for a day to acclimatize altitude and try to avoid altitude sickness. We’ll then trek to Phortse and further continue to Tengboche. This Sherpa village is famous for housing the Tengboche Monastery in the backdrop of Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m). There will be approximately 4-5 walking hours each day. However, you’ll reach Phakding within a day while returning, and to Lukla the next day.

There is an abrupt change in altitude throughout various sections in the trail, which are comparatively difficult and can be challenging. But most of the trail consists of a well-defined dirt path without too many obstacles. The best season for trekking is from March to May and October to November when the weather is suitable and predictable.

Day to Day Itinerary

You will land on Kathmandu. Our company staff will receive you at the airport and transport you to your hotel in the capital. You’ll stay overnight at the hotel. We’ll inform you about necessary permits and procedures as well as important trekking gear.

After completing procedures for permits, you’ll fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla airport is famous for its extreme geographical location on top of a hill surrounded by other hills. You can enjoy the views of the mountains in the Everest range during the flight as well. From Lukla, you’ll start trekking and reach Phakding, which is situated at the bank of the Dudh Koshi River.

You’ll ascend through the Himalayan pine trees and cedar forest along the Dudh Koshi River to reach Namche Bazaar. On the way, you also enter the Sagarmatha National Park, one of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Nepal. Namche Bazaar lies at an altitude of 3,440 m. So, it is necessary to stay in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. You’ll also have the first view of Mount Everest (8848m).

Namche Bazaar is a trading center of the Khumbu region for the merchants of Nepal and Tibet. You’ll find well-facilitated hotels and lodges. You can even buy missing trekking gears, if any. Like most parts of the Khumbu region, most of the population here belongs to the Sherpa Community. They have their own unique culture, tradition, and way of living. You can visit the Sherpa Museum to learn more about their history. Likewise, you can also hike to the Everest View Hotel and enjoy the views of Mt. Everest (8848m) along with many other mountains.

You’ll start trekking from Namche Bazaar to reach Phortse. As you ascend, you’ll have a clear picture of the mountains, including the Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, among others. The trek heads through forested areas and hillsides in the national park. The trail follows the Imja River as you reach Phortse at the end of the day.

After spending a day in Namche Bazaar, you’ll be able to adapt to higher altitudes and ascend further. The trail goes across the pasture land, and so, on this day, you’ll trek from Phortse to reach Tengboche. Tengboche houses the Tengboche Monastery, which is one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the Khumbu Valley. Tengboche offers a good view of sunrise and sunset in the company of Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m).

You’ll trek from Tengboche to Khumjung village. This village has large settlements and the foothill of the sacred peak Khumbila. You’ll slowly ascend towards Khumjung, passing numerous Chorten (Buddhist stone monuments). Throughout the trail, you can enjoy the view of Everest (8,848 m), Nuptse (7,855m), Ama Dablam (6,856 m) and other mountains. At Khumjung, you can visit a local museum that houses the heritage of the Sherpa community.

Leaving Khumjung, you’ll start descending the same trail towards Phakding. Initially, you head to Namche Bazaar, where you can stop for a while and continue the descent. Next, the trail leads you to the confluence of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers and continues to head south. The route passes several Sherpa villages and exits the Sagarmatha National Park to reach Phakding.

You’ll further trek back to Lukla from Phakding. It is also the last day of your trekking. The trail descends alongside the Dudh Koshi River in the company of the Kongde Himal range. Further, you descend through Sherpa villages like Chhuthawa and Chheplung. At the final part of the trail, you will pass across stone walls and prayer wheels to reach Lukla.

In the morning, you’ll take your flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. You’ll say goodbye to the majestic view of mountains and leave from the lap of the Himalayas. The mountains in the Everest range will keep you company as you fly to Kathmandu. Next, your arrival in the capital follows a drop-off to your hotel.

Today, you’ll have a free day in Kathmandu. You can either rest or visit places inside the valley. Some of the popular destinations in Kathmandu are Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath, among others. You may visit some of these places on your free day. Alternatively, you can also shop around and buy souvenirs before you leave Nepal.

 

Your tour will end on the 12th day. We’ll take you from your hotel to the international airport. Finally, you’ll depart from Kathmandu.

  • We have daily departures for this trip from March to May and from mid-September to mid-December. You can type in the number of passengers to book a reservation and select a date that is convenient for you. Due to group size, we never cancel a trip once you’ve made a reservation.   • Everest Panorama is a short moderate trek with a touch of high altitude, a duration of
    a week. The tour takes you up to Tengboche Monastery at 3,867 m high, an
    adventure for all age groups. It starts from Lukla to Lukla with a short scenic flight
    from Kathmandu or Manthali Namecheap.

  • The best time for Everest Panorama Trek is spring from March to May, and
    autumn/fall begins from September to early November. These are the best times
    for pleasant walks and views but it could get snowfall sometimes. Much colder
    morning and evening, nighttime, but with clear sunny most of the days.
    Interested people can join in for this scenic and cultural trek during the winter times
    of the Christmas and New Year Holidays. But much cold morning and night
    time, most days are clear for views and walks.

  • Walking ups and down with few flat sections, walk into lovely woods of
    rhododendron and pines. The trek leads to several friendly villages adorned with
    ancient culture and heritage of Buddhism, visiting monasteries of great religious
    interest. Encountering friendly and cheerful villagers, cold morning and night time
    but with sunny clear days for excellent views of snow-capped peaks.

  • The trek starts from low from Lukla at 2,800 m and high at Tengboche Monastery
    at 3,867 m. Having a rest day at Namche Bazaar which is above 3,440 m high.
    05: How are the foods and accommodations on Everest Panorama Trek?
    Accommodation in local lodges is simple but nice, clean and cozy but smaller
    rooms. But at Lukla and Namche Bazaar the hotels and motels are of a high
    standard with attached bathrooms. Having large warm dining rooms serves
    a comprehensive food menu from Continental, Chinese, Indian and Tibetan to
    Nepal meals. Some lodges also provide fresh bakery items. The primary
    preferred meal is Nepali Dal Bhat (boiled rice and lentil soup with seasonal

    vegetable and homemade hot sauce or mild pickle. For large groups provides set
    meal to make it easier as well as to save time and fuel energy.

  • Every village has hydroelectricity and solar, where trekkers can change their
    electronic items are paying a fee per hour per item charged to the lodge owner.
    Nearly all villages provide hot or cold showers and bathe with hot water in a
    large bucket. Extra charge for using the hot shower and bathing.

  • Nearly all main villages like Lukla town, Phakding, and Namche Bazaar as well in
    Tengboche. But sometimes due to landscapes wise entering deep valleys and
    gorges where internet services could be obstructed.

  • To book with “Brown Bear Trails” a minimum of one month or earlier is the best.
    Sending your passport details, and advance payment with a photo copy of Travel /
    Medical Insurance. The rest of the trip balance will be paid on arrival in Kathmandu
    before trek departures.
