Best seasons for Solu to Everest Base Camp Trekking:
The best time for this wonderful adventure is from spring and autumn to the pre-winter seasons. Spring seasons start from March to May, and autumn/fall begins from September to November months. Can visit during the pre-winter time also in early December where days are clear, but cold morning and night time.
Springtime from March to May is lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons and orchids of various species.
On this trek, visitors will experience during flowering times on high hills of Salpa, till Tengboche Monastery during March to May.
In the spring season, most days are fine and with longer sun-light hours, but can get an overcast late afternoon with chances of snow sometimes on high altitude, as well on passes.
Autumn / fall from September to November is another best time for this trek with fine days, clear blue sky for views and walks. But days are shorter due to sun-light hours, temperatures drop to a cold morning, late afternoon, and nighttime around higher elevation, but clear starry nights. Chances of snow on tracks above 2,000 m as well on passes.
Religion and Culture:
Starting from Diktel around the Khotang areas, the mid-hills of eastern Nepal populated with mixed tribes, mostly Kirat Rai few Gurung, Magar, and Tamang with Hindu Chettries and Brahmins as well Sherpa.
The mid-hills villagers around Khotang and the lower area of Solu the Kirat Rai follow Hindu religion and culture, and from Panggom onwards entering Sherpa country with a strong culture of Buddhism religion.

Solu to Everest Base Camp Trekking begins from Kathmandu taking an overland journey to the eastern part of Nepal. Then arriving around farm hill country and villages and the town of Khotang at Diktel, the starting point of the trek.
The first phase of the walk takes you past several rural villages, where local people hardly come across outside visitors. As the walk proceeds heading towards Salpa pass covered in dense rhododendron and pine trees offers a grand vista of Khumbu peaks. Near the pass lies a small pond with the name Salpa Pokhari, from the top downhill to Sonam and Guidel villages.
A great change as walk leads around the human settlements after being in the complete wilderness for some days. Adventures continue heading higher to cross a small ridge and into a narrow gorge to a river. The climb leads to a Sherpa village of Panggom, encountering Buddhist monuments with prayer flags from here onwards to the Khumbu area. In the land of Sherpa’s the highlanders of Eastern Himalayas, then walking on the main trail of Jiri and Phaplu. Treks follow on the high road of the Everest region, coming across many trekkers on the trail to Everest Base Camp.
On reaching the mainstream trail, where the route follows past nice villages witness the strong Buddhist culture. A walk leads to a slow climb on entering Sagarmatha National Park towards the famous Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital of Khumbu.
Spending an extra day at Namche is a perfect place for acclimatization, as well as for a short hike to scenic viewpoints. At Namche, Bazaar trekkers can enjoy various facilities like banks, nice hotels, restaurants, bakeries with well-stocked shops and stores. From Namche Bazaar our true adventure begins heading higher on a scenic trail facing views of grand giant peaks. Journey follows to Tengboche a beautiful spot for a super panorama of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam with an array of peaks.
Enjoy a tour of its impressive monastery located amidst beautiful forest surroundings, and then towards mountain wilderness. The walk climbs to high dry and arid terrain as tree lines drop after Tengboche then reaching scenic Imjatse valley. Where Dingboche is located in a moderate settlement with many good lodges facing views of Ama Dablam North Face and Island Peak.
From Dingboche adventure continues towards the end of beautiful Imjatse valley at Chukung the last settlement east of Khumbu. After Chukung heading towards Kongma-La, a 5,535 m high pass, the toughest and long day trek of the adventure.
The pass is well hidden by a great wall of Nuptse and Lhotse mountains with Pokalde and Mehra or Kongma peaks. The top of the pass is marked with a cairn of rocks and prayer flags, from here down to the Khumbu glacier. After walking through the glaciated path then at Lobuche on route to Everest base camp, Lobuche with a number of nice lodges.
Spending overnight at Lobuche, the adventure leads to our final destination at Everest Base Camp, a walkover moraine and glaciers. On achieving our goal and major highlight on reaching Everest base camp, enjoy stupendous views of giant towering peaks. Overlooking massive Khumbu Ice-Fall and glaciers that flow from the world’s highest Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse.
Everest base camp is livelier during March to May when mountaineering expeditions are active, after a great wonderful experience. Return journey back to Lobuche with downhill to Pangboche village, our route diverts from the main trail to Phortse. A nice and sleepy farm village situated above Dudh Kosi River, where few trekkers seldom pass through this quaint village.
After a lovely pleasant overnight at Phortse village, the adventure continues towards another lovely Khumjung village, located on a glacial valley. From here back to Namche Bazaar, then downhill to Dudh Kosi River following the river to Phakding and beyond. As the walk continues to Lukla for the last overnight around the high Khumbu and Everest region, at Lukla our adventure completes.
