Overview

Langtang Valley trek is one of the most sought-after treks in Nepal because of its value for money and the lifelong experience you get. You also get to experience the rich culture of the people along the way, mostly Tamang and Tibetan culture. The reflection of these cultures on the ancient monasteries and heritage is even more insightful. Moreover, the ravishing views of the mountains in the Langtang and Jugal ranges keep a rewarding company on the trek.

 

This trek is ten days long, and you begin the trek in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. You can spend the day visiting the famous cultural sites such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. During this time, we will get your permits ready for you, the permits required for this trip are TIMS Card and Langtang National Park Permit. After all the preparations, you begin the drive to Syabrubensi, the starting point of the trek. As the trail heads east, you begin to trek along the Langtang River. Next, the trail reaches Lama Hotel before heading north past Gumanechok and Ghoda Tabela. Then, you follow the river upstream in the company of Langtang range to reach Langtang village. After that, you make your way to Kyanjin, where you can visit the famous monasteries Langtang Gompa and Kyanjin Gompa. As you spend a day in Kyanjin, you can explore around the village or hike to Tserko Ri Peak (4984m). From here, we can see mountains such as Langtang Ri, Yala Peak, Langtang Lirung, and Naya Khang. After enjoying your stay in Kyanjin, you will begin your return trek and retrace your steps to Syabrubensi. The best season for trekking in Langtang Valley is during autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May).

As soon as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our staff will be there to receive you and drop you to your hotel. After getting refreshed in your hotel, you can visit some of the popular locations in the valley. If you wish to visit any other places, you can inform us, and we will take you there.

After breakfast, you will leave for Syabrubensi via a jeep. On the way, you can see the mighty river Trishuli and picturesque hills. The drive will take you across the Trishuli Highway. This road trip also may take you through some rough terrains along the way. You will reach Syabrubensi in the late afternoon, and you can spend the rest of the day exploring the area.

After breakfast, you will make your way to Lama Hotel. This will be your first trek, which is a steep uphill climb that takes you past forests of bamboos and oaks. Interestingly, we will stop at a small village called Bamboo for lunch and some rest. The trail to Lama Hotel stretches further east from Bamboo. Lama Hotel is a common stop for all trekkers on this trek.

Today, you finally make your way to Langtang village. On the way, you pass through thick forests of rhododendrons, pines, and wild oaks. You now begin to head deeper into the Langtang National Park. On the way, you might get to see a variety of wildlife such as red pandas, snow leopards, clouded leopards, musk deer, and so on. Langtang village is a wide valley located near the Tibetan border, and the people living there are mostly Tibetan and Tamang.

On this day, we begin our trek to the famous monastery of Kyanjin Gompa. It is a short trek where you will notice small Buddhist shrines, watermills, and prayer wheels along the way. You will also pass through a village called Mundu along the way. After this, it is a short uphill climb before reaching Kyanjin Gompa. You can explore the famous monastery Kyanjin Gompa here

This day may seem a bit longer as we will be hiking to the Tserko Ri (4984m), which is also the highest point in this trek. The top of the peak offers a mesmerizing view of the Langtang range along with the Dorje Lakpa and Gauri Shankar Himal range. After the hike, you descend back to Kyanjin and start the trek back to Lama Hotel. The return trek follows the route along Langtang Village and Ghoda Tabela to reach Lama Hotel.

After breakfast, you start to make your way back to Syabrubensi. There is no need to rush, and you can walk at your own pace. You should take in all the views of the Langtang region while on the way. As you join the company of Langtang River, the trail will take you to Syabrubensi.

After breakfast, you make your way back to Kathmandu. Once you reach the hotel in the late afternoon, you can get refreshed and stroll around the streets of Thamel and even buy some souvenirs from here. We will have a final group farewell dinner in Thamel.

01:Can we trek with family of young children on Langtang Valley Trek?

Depends upon one physical fitness and health. The trek is not hard or difficult reaching the highest overnight stop at Kyanjin Gompa. Which is at 3,860 m, but the elevation gain at gradual pace. Langtang valley trek for all people and age group, including family with young children. For minor infants needs extra porter of guide to carry the child, when required. The altitude gain is safe on this week duration trek, or one can extend to more days from Syabrubesi to Syabrubesi village.

02:When is the best time for this tough and wonderful Trek?

The best time are spring from March to May, and autumn / fall begins from September to early November. These are the best times for pleasant walks and views, but could get snow-fall sometimes. Much colder morning and evening, night time, but with clear sunny most of the days. Interest people can visit during winter times of Christmas and New Year Holidays also. Although cold months but most days are full of sunny days, morning and night time much cooler and cold.
Can expect snow fall sometime during spring, autumn and winter times.

03:What do we expect on these treks?

walking ups and down with few flat section, walk into lovely nice villages adorned with ancient Tamang cultural heritage of Buddhism, visiting monasteries of great religious interest. Encountering friendly and cheerful villagers, cold morning and night time but with sunny clear days for excellent views of snow-capped peaks.
Reaching the scenic Langtang Valley surrounded by towering peaks of Langtang Himal, with views of peaks across the border in Tibet. Reaching the high Kyanjin Gompa 3,860 m, within beautiful Langtang valley. Walking amidst lovely rhododendron and pine forest with exciting drives to start and end the trek.

04:How high do we trek on this Trek?

The trek starts from Syabrubesi at 1,600 m then reaching above 3,860 m in Kyanjin and Langtang Valley. But one can hike to high view-point hill at Kyanjin-Ri or Tserko-Ri which is above 4,400 m high for panoramic views of Central Himalaya range.

05:How are the foods, accommodation on this 4 passes Trek?

Accommodation in local lodges are simple but nice, clean and cozy but smaller rooms on leaving Nar and Phu few days’ overnights in tented camps.
The lodge facilities till Kyanjin Gompa, the local lodge restaurants serves Continental, Chinese, Indian and Tibetan to Nepal meals.
The main preferred meals is Nepali Dal Bhat (boiled rice and lentil soup with seasonal vegetable and home-made hot sauce or mild pickle. For large group provides set meal to make it easier as well to save time and fuel energy.

06:Is there hot showers and electricity to charge our electronic items?

Every villages have hydroelectricity and solar, where trekkers can charge their electronic items paying a fee per hour per item charged to the lodge owner.
Yes, nearly all villages provides hot or cold shower and bathe with hot water in a large bucket. Extra charge for using hot shower and bathe.

07:Do we get internet services and Wi-Fi on these treks?

Nearly all main villages as far towards Manang. But sometimes due to landscapes wise entering deep valleys and gorges where internet services could be obstructed.

08:When do we book for this wonderful trek?

To book with “Brown Bear Trails” minimum of one month or earlier the best. Sending your passport details, and advance payment with photo copy of Travel / Medical Insurance. Rest of the trip balance to be paid on arrival in Kathmandu before trek departures.
