Itinerary

You may arrive in Kathmandu at any time. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by one of our airport representatives and transferred to the hotel. There are no planned activities for the day, so you may check into your hotel and relax. Overnights stay at the hotel.

Early in the morning, you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Nepalgunj. The short flight takes about 50 to 60 minutes, and from the plane- you can enjoy the views of the Himalayas and the changing landscape below. Upon landing at Nepalgunj, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnights stay at the hotel in Nepalgunj.

You will have another short flight from Nepalgunj today to Juphal. From Juphal, you will begin your trek and make your way to today’s destination- Tripurakot. The flight to Nepalgunj also presents many amazing views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Mountain Peaks. You will follow the steeply descending trail from Juphal, going through rolling maize fields and passing small local villages as you make your way to Tripurakot. The village is home to a revered Hindu Tripurasundari temple. Overnights stay at Tripurakot.

From Tripurakot, you will follow the trail towards Ghodakhor. The path goes steeply through an inclined hill and lush vegetation. You will pass through rural villages like Liku and Pahara, among others, as you follow the path. There are several yak pastures along the way as well, and you can enjoy amazing views of the Himalayas overnight in the camps at Ghodakhor.

From Ghodakhor, you will follow the inclined trail through the pine and cedar woods to reach the open pasturelands. Beyond here, you will find that the trail gradually climbs uphill to the top of Balangra Pass. Slowly and steadily trekking to the top of the pass, you will follow the leveled and downhill trail to Hurikot via the village of Kaigaon. The village also features a Bon Monastery. Overnight in the camps at Hurikot.

Following the trail, you will enter the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Most of the trek today meanders through the jungle trail of the park. Trekking uphill for almost an hour, the path finally levels through the maple woods towards Toijum. Walking for about 15 minutes through the village of Toijum takes you to the Army Camp. This camp is positioned there to protect the National Park and the wildlife inside it. Beyond the Army Camp, it is an easy thirty-minute walk to Takpoche. Overnight in a camp at Takpoche.

From Takpoche, you will follow the coruscating path that climbs uphill. Fifteen minutes ahead of Takpoche, the trail gets you to Chheten Bada. Another 15 minutes from there down the hill brings you to the river bed. Crossing a suspension bridge, the trail then takes you to the settlement of Tang Tunge, which is popular for its abundance of the Yarsa Gompa. From there, it is a gradual walk to Tallo Jagdul, where you can stop for lunch. From there, it is a gradual uphill trek along the Pani Palta Riverside via Phulbari to Gau Chaur. This village is a mysterious village with no human settlers. Instead, you can see plenty of old settlement ruins amidst terraced fields. Overnight in the camps at Gau Chaur.

This day is reserved for acclimatization. You can spend the day exploring the village's ruins and also enjoy the views of Mount Kanjirowa. Overnights stay at Gau Chaur.

From Gau Chaur, you will follow the path that takes you deep into the wilderness. Albeit a short trek today, the journey is challenging. The three-hour trek winds uphill through the jungle with the frequently leveled trail that cuts across the woods. Passing through the forest, you will arrive at the campsite in Thulo Palta- a big cave situated beside the river. Overnights stay at Thulo Palta camp

A three-hour uphill and downhill trek through the jungle and vast Yarsa Gompa fields takes you to the Jagdul River today. From there, it is a steady climb towards the Bahiri Puduwa Campsite. The camp is situated in the middle of the jungle on a ridge. Overnights stay at camp.

The trek to Bhittipuduwa takes you through the lush woodlands of the valley. Today’s journey is filled with amazing natural scenes, with occasional wispy waterfalls and streams covering the chartreuse landscape. Overnights stay at Bhittipuduwa.

Today, you will follow the trail up the elevation towards the Kanjirowa Base Camp. It is a steady gain in elevation as you achieve more altitude the higher up you go. A slow and steady trek does the trick, and after trudging through the snowy landscape, you will finally reach the camp. Overnights stay at base camp.

This is a day reserved for acclimatization. You can spend the day enjoying the view and relaxing- letting your body adjust to the altitude. Properly acclimatizing reduces the risk of getting altitude sick. Overnights stay at base camp.

The High Camp is situated a few hundred meters ahead of the base camp. Following your guide, you will steadily make your way through the vast expanse of snow and ice towards the High Camp. Finally, gaining elevation, you will reach today's destination. Overnights stay at High camp

This is another day reserved for acclimatization. You can spend the day exploring the snowy expanse and enjoying the views of the Himalayas. Overnights stay at High Camp.

You will follow your guide from High camp as he takes you through the snowy expanse towards Camp I. This is where the snow's density and the ice become high, and you need to be careful. You can also use navigation tools like ropes and crampons to hike up to Camp I. Overnights stay at camp I.

Day 17 :
Summit Day

This is an important day as you will be summiting the peak today. You will start early in the morning, following your guide and Sherpa as he helps you navigate your way up the peak. Unfortunately, the weather becomes extremely chilly and cold, and you will have to use your peak climbing equipment like ice axe and crampons to make your way to the top. From the top, however, you can enjoy panoramic views of the valley below and the mountains on your sides, and also bask in the sense of accomplishment. After summiting the peak, you will make your way back down to camp. Overnights stay at camp.

Day 18 :
Reserve Day

This day is reserved as a contingency day. The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable, and thus if you cannot summit the peak on Day 17, you can use this day. Otherwise, this day is not needed.

Today, after the successful summit over Mt. Kanjirowa, you will begin your journey back towards Juphal. Then, retracing the trail, you will make your way back to Bahiri Puduwa, trekking through the woodlands once more. It is astonishing how the landscape can change from vast snowy expanses to lush green vegetation in just a matter of meters, overnight in the camps at Bahiri Puduwa.

Going down the valley, you will cross several rivers and streams again as you retrace your way back. The peaceful trek through the woodlands is quite beautiful, with the air filled with bird sounds. The views of the mountain peaks also keep you company as you make your way to Tallo Jagdul. Overnights stay at the lodge.

All along the Tallo Jagdul to Kai Gaon, you will find that the path is filled with small Chortens and Gompas lined with colorful prayer flags. Even the suspension bridges are decorated with prayer flags. The landscape is also filled with maple and cedar trees, and pasturelands are dotted with cattle, lazily grazing in the sun. Overnights stay at Kai Gaon.

From Kai Gaon, you will finally make your way back to the village of Tripurakot. You can enjoy the up and downhill terrain as you make your way back to the village, passing through the terraced fields of maize and barley and watching the ethnic people going about their day. Overnights stay at the lodge.

From Tripurakot, you will make your way back to Juphal, following the same trail as before. The views of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri mountain peaks make the trip all the more fun. Overnights stay at Juphal.

Today, the schedule is mainly filled with airplane flights. You will catch an early flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj. Upon landing at the Nepalgunj airport, you will then catch another flight back to Kathmandu. The short flights provide wonderful views of the mountain peaks and the landscape below. At Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnights stay at the hotel in Kathmandu.

You will be taken to the airport for your final departure today.

01: WHY KANJIRUWA PEAK LESS VISITED AND CLIMBED?

Kanjiruwa Peak stands at 6,883 m and 22, 582 feet, one of the highest mountains around the Lower Dolpo area. Its remote location and the logistic problem of transportation make the expedition climb to Kanjiruwa Peak less visited and hardly climbed a mountain. The region is quite raw and needs more to explore the areas, where every group of trekkers can climber seldom venture. Although Japanese Expeditions has climbed the mountains, no trace of records, and the mountain is not fully recognized by the NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association) or Tourism Department. Where some process is on the pipeline to make Kanjiruwa peak well known to adventurers and climbers.

02: IS IT A FULL CAMPING TREK AND CLIMB TO KANJIRUWA PEAK?

It is full fledge camping on leaving Jhupal, where all camping equipment and food are carried for the whole trip. Until the trek and climb are completed reaching Jhupal for the flight back to Kathmandu. Brown Bear Trail provides two men's tents with soft thin foam mattresses, a separate unit of the kitchen department with the expert cook, kitchen staff, and guides with porters to carry all the gear. The camping includes large dining tents according to group size, and toilet tents, shower tents and generator for the light on request as per the trip cost.

03: IS IT A DIFFICULT PEAK TO CLIMB AND HOW DANGEROUS?

Kanjiruwa Peak at 6,883 m high, is a full fledge mountaineering expedition the trail and climb are quite technical. Can be very challenging in deep snow conditions, and the climb is very technical in some sections. Where all climbers require good climbing equipment as well the skill of climbing. But it is not dangerous unless sudden avalanches do happen sometimes around Himalayan peaks.

04: HOW LONG IS THE TREK AND CLIMB OF KANJIRUWA PEAK?

Starting from Jhupal after flying from Kathmandu via Nepalgunj city airport. A total day of trekking and climbing is 21 nights and 22 days from Jhupal to Jhupal with flights both ways. Includes climbing for a few days and with a reserve day as a contingency in case of bad weather conditions. The total trip from arrival to final departure is 24 nights and 25 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu.

05: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK FOR KANJIRUWA PEAK CLIMB?

The best time to book for the Kanjiruwa peak climb is in late spring which is Mid- March to May and mid-June (pre-summer). The next best time is in autumn/fall starting from September to early November months. Can expect snow-fall sometimes during the trek and climb.
