Itinerary

You will depart from Kathmandu towards Chitwan today. Upon arriving at Chitwan, you will begin your sightseeing tour by first visiting the Tharu village. You can experience the Tharu culture in its finest form in the village, where you can see Tharu houses made of clay and mud, painted red with thatched roofs. The village people also dress in traditional Tharu costumes, with unique jewelry and headdresses.

The next stop is the Elephants Stable, where you can enjoy playing with the elephants up close. The Elephant stable is Nepal's leading center for elephant welfare. Finally, you will spend the evening enjoying the sunset view as the sun sweeps down across the horizon, casting glimmering lights and shadows across the Rapti River. The last program of the day is the Tharu Cultural Dance, a traditional dance practice of the Tharu people where they dance rhythmically with sticks.

This day is reserved for the jungle safari. You will ride the elephant into the woods today and can even glimpse sights of elusive animals in the jungle, such as the barking deer and the one-horned rhinoceros, among others. You can even help the Mahout bath the elephant in the afternoon as it plays in the Rapti River.

Today also includes a canoe ride down the river where you can enjoy watching Gharial and crocodiles as they rest on the river banks. The river is also a great spot for bird watching as many colorful birds visit the river for a feast of fishes. You can also visit the Elephant Breeding Center today and gain insight into the breeding program that the center has for its elephants.

Day 3 :
Departure

You will bid the elephants and the bird’s goodbye today as you make your way back to Kathmandu, following the same route as before.
