Best seasons for Around Manaslu Trekking:

The best time for this wonderful Around Manaslu trekking is in the spring and autumn seasons, spring from March to May, and autumn/fall begins from September to November months.

Springtime from March to May will be much lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the magnolia and rhododendrons the national flower of Nepal.

March to May fine clear day most of the time, with longer sun-light hours but can get overcast in the late afternoon with chances of snow sometimes on high altitude areas as well on passes. Autumn / Falls another best time for this trek with a fine clear day for views and walks. But days are shorter with sun-light hours, morning, late afternoon, and nighttime temperatures drop to freezing cold around the higher region with the bright starry night sky. Around Mt. Manaslu Trekking, one of the best, exciting and adventurous walks. Where trekkers can experience the biodiversity of the country’s varied landscapes, climate, vegetation, and culture. As the walk progresses from low warm paddy fields to cooler high hills and towards the arctic zone. Where walk leads to ice, snow, and glaciers in some section of the route around high Manaslu valley.

As well as crossing over Larke-La Pass at 5,106 m, the highest point of the adventure surrounded by the giant mountain range. Larke-La Pass also forms a barrier between Manaslu areas of the Gorkha region with Manang district.

Around Mt. Manaslu Trekking, with two options the main route is driving straight to Maccha-Khola via farm town of Arughat. But on this adventure with a slight difference, where walk leads you off the mainstream for few days.

Around Mt. Manaslu starts with an exciting drive to Mid-West Nepal at Gorkha a historical town from the 12th to 17th Century. The home of the Shah Dynasty, from here began the conquest of the smaller kingdom and united the country into one Nepal. The journey continues to Barpak, a large hill village, from here our adventure begins heading towards higher Manaslu valley. As the walk continues to another village of Laprak, which looks almost similar and quite smaller than Barpak village.

From here onward walking on an elusive trail to reach the main route of Manaslu on reaching Jagat village. The starting point of Restricted Area, where all trekkers require a special permit to enter the upper Manaslu region and beyond.

After Jagat village walk leads towards the higher country, one can notice the dramatic change of landscapes, climate, and villages.

On entering high Manaslu valley, feel and experience the strong Tibetan influence around the villages of Namrung, Lo-Gaon to Sama-Gaon. As walk approach rows of Buddhist monuments and prayer walls around Namrung and Lo-Gaon, lovely picturesque villages. Facing close views of Mt. Manaslu and a range of adjoining peaks, the adventure continues on high scenic Manaslu valley.

After Lo-Gaon tall tree lines slowly disappear for the short bush of juniper and azaleas flowering shrubs of genus Rhododendron. Finally, the walk reaches to a major village of Sama-Gaon, situated on route to Larke-La Pass and

Mt. Manaslu base camp. Sama-Gaon, a perfect place for rest and acclimatization day, here explore the village of the great culture of strong Tibetan heritage.

Manaslu high area is an important route of the Trans Himalaya Salt and Caravan trail of Nepal and Tibet. In the early days’ caravan laden with goods from both countries passed through Sama-Gaon and Samdu villages. Trade still exists but in a smaller way than in the past century, from Sama-Gaon after an interesting moment.

The adventure continues to Samdu, the last village of Manaslu and Gorkha district, and route to the Tibet border and Larke-La. From Samdu village towards the end of Manaslu valley to Dharmasala and Larke Phedi, the bottom of Larke-La Pass.

Early morning, a long climb leads on a rocky slope past small icy ponds, and glaciated sections to Larke-La Pass. Achieving our main highlights of the adventure on reaching the highest point at 5, 106 m / 16, 752 ft.

From Larke-La fantastic panorama of snow-mountains that surrounds the top with close views of Larke Peak and Himlung Himal.

The Himalaya range extends to Annapurna II, III, and IV, with the Manaslu group of peaks, and then downhill to Bhimthang. Entering a new area around the district of Manang and back into a forest of tall pines and rhododendron trees.

After a tough climb, and a long descend from Larke-La, the rest of the walk on a pleasant scenic trail to Dharapani village. The ending point of our adventurous walks on this lovely village, situated on the route of Annapurna and Manaslu circuit route.

From Dharapani village taking a drive back to Kathmandu, past Besisar headquarter town of Lamjung district. From here onward on a good road as drive leads past farm town and villages to Kathmandu.

Morning after breakfast at given time, our city guide will meet for interesting sightseeing of best world heritage sites around Kathmandu.

Tour includes old Durbar (royal palace and courtyard) square, with Temple of Kumari (Living young virgin Goddess). Visit famous Nepal landmark Swayambhunath Stupa a 2,500 years old, a Buddhist Stupa with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. Afternoon tour of holy Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath and visit Bouddhanath, Asia’s largest Stupa with four cardinals eyes of Buddha surrounded with prayer wheels and small market, this place is also known as Little Tibet due to strong Tibetan influence.

Adventure to Manaslu Trekking starts with interesting overland journey to Gorkha around Nepal Mid-West. Gorkha a historical town and royal seat of Shah Dynasty the fort palace stands above Gorkha town. From here King Prithivi Narayan Shah started conquest of smaller kingdoms and unified into a single nation to one Nepal. On reaching Gorkha town transfer into a nice hotel of tourist standard near the town, where the old palace dominates the town of Gorkha.

Another short drive of few hours to hill village and town of Barpak, drive start off on main highway, then diverts towards low warm farm areas as road follows up hill to reach Manaslu region at Barpak, a town located on a high hill amid terraced farm fields. Barpak was the epicenter of 2015 big earthquake that struck Nepal Mid-West and East caused much devastation. The village and town life slowly coming to almost normal as it was in the past years. At Barpak transfer into a nice simple lodge for overnight, with time to browse around the street and market to catch glimpse of local culture of hill tribes with mostly dominated by Gurung, Magar with some Hindu Chettries and Brahmin and Newar.

First day walk begins with a climb on steep sided slope as walk leads on countless stone steps towards a forest. As trek continues past sleepy farm villages set serenely atop hillsides facing views of Ganesh Himal and Buddha Himal in the distance. Walk on the banks of the Budhi Gandaki and then slowly the day comes to an end on reaching a moderate size village at Laprak. Overnight in a nice simple lodge with friendly environment and warm hospitality of the villagers.

After a pleasant overnight at Laprak village, morning walks to Khorla Besi begins with a steady descent to a suspension bridge. From here short trek to the village of Singla for possible lunch stop, with grand views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal range. After lunch trek continues downhill towards Budhi Gandaki River and then on main trail of Manaslu route as the path joins of Arughat and Maccha-Khola.
Walk carries on with few short ups and down to reach a small farm village of Khorla Besi for overnight, located on a low warm area of semi-tropical climate.

From this isolated small farm village, morning start with climb following Budhi Gandaki River to a nice place at Tatopani and its famous hot springs. From here hike to Dovan and then finally ending our day on reaching at Jagat, the threshold to the Manaslu conservation region. A nice moderate village with many good lodges, the place is lined with tea-shops and stores. After checking into a nice lodge with time for short stroll around the village to observe local way of simple farm life and cultures of both Hindu and Buddhism.

From Jagat, morning walk leads to higher areas passing scattered farm villages with short climb and downhill to cross over a bridge to reach at Nagjet and Philim, a large village with spread-out farm houses. After Philim walk through farm terraces of golden fields of wheat’s and barley, then a climb on rocky ridge top into bamboo forest area to our overnight stop at Deng village.

After a pleasant stop in Deng, morning walk leads to cooler region as
altitude gains entering into a nice forest of pine and rhododendron on reaching
higher areas and then with short downhill to a river at Bihi Bazaar a small village
by a river side.
From Bihi walk follows Buri Gandaki River, then crossing a river to enter a small farm villages and cultivated farm fields of barley, wheat and millets, and then reach Namrung village with first close views of Mt. Manaslu North Face and adjoining peaks, from here onward encountering villages of strong Tibetan influence with similar Buddhism culture and traditional life within high Manaslu valley.

After overnight stop at Namrung, walk heads to more farm fields within Yak herder huts and shelters, high Manaslu valley people are much engaged in farming during summer.
From here walk to high and scenic valley all the way to Lo Gaon for overnight stop, one of the nicest village within Manaslu valley, at Lo enjoy close views of towering Manaslu North Face, at Lo-Gaon visit its monastery with numerous Chorten and Mani walls includes views of Ganesh Himal towards east.

From Lo-Gaon into a wide valley and on the main trail of Manaslu circuit as walk continues on a scenic valley. After Lo-Gaon vegetation changes and tree lines fades for few short juniper bushes and some willow trees. Walk leads on nice path with views of snow-peaks and then finally end the day walk on reaching Sama-Gaon for overnight stop, a large and one of the main village of Upper Manaslu areas, where route leads to Manaslu base camp and Larke-la pass as well onwards to Tibet border.

A rest day at Sama-Gaon village to support with acclimatization before heading higher terrain around Larke-la Pass, with free day with time to explore nice and scenic area as well visit its old Monastery of Buddhism.

After a pleasant rest at Sama-Gaon, start the walk on windswept terrain of more than five hours to the last village of Gorkha and Manaslu valley at Samdo.
In the beginning morning starts with slow climb as elevation gains slowly feeling the touch of dry air, makes walk slower treading slowly taking time with short break to enjoy surrounding beautiful views scenery.
As walk continue then reaching Samdo village with short climb on a small plateau where Samdo village is located, a moderate size village of more than forty houses with about two hundred villagers living this high harsh country.

Morning leaving the last village of upper Manaslu valley, walk to the end of a valley facing views of towering peaks with majestic Mt. Manaslu also called Kutang by the local of Tibetan origin language.
Walk continues crossing few icy streams to reach Larke Phedi means the bottom of a hill or pass, it also known as Dharmasala (rest house or shelter for travelers), in early days this area was called Larke Bazaar, where colorful market use to take place. After checking into small simple room, having lunch afternoon free for short walk, as well preparations for next early morning climb to cross Larke-La pass towards next district Manang.

From Larke Phedi, morning a steep climb over moraine of rocks and boulders, following north of Larke glacier, with view of Cho Danda and Larke Peak.
As walk proceeds with slow ascent gets steeper on reaching Larke-La Pass, the top marked with thousands of Buddhist colorful prayer flags.
On top enjoy a short rest facing panorama of Himlung, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and Annapurna-II includes peaks of Manaslu range.
A long descend takes you at Larcia, walk further on a ridge to Tambuche at
3,900 m, the bottom of the pass. From here short walk to Bhimthang for overnight stop after a long, hard day.
Bhimthang a lovely place, situated on a green field with several lodges adorned with prayer Mani walls, surrounded by tall trees of rhododendron-pines and oaks.

After a good rest and pleasant overnight in the lodge at Bhimthang, from here rest of the journey on downhill short climb to Gho and Dharapani villages, morning a gradual walk through beautiful forested areas then reaching a small clearing in amidst tree lines at Gho for overnight stop. A small cattle and yak herders summer pasture with temporary settlement and simple lodge for travelers.

Walk to the finishing point of Manaslu area at Dharapani, starts with pleasant downhill through tree lines to Tilje village, a nice spot by the raging Masrsyangdi River, having short rest or possible for lunch stop, then climb on crossing a suspension bridge to a large and nice lovely Dharapani village.
This village located on the junction of famous, popular Annapurna Circuit trail and route of Manaslu. Dharapani village where motorable road has reached from Besisar town as far to Manang village.

Having an early good breakfast at Dharapani nice lodge, and then taking a drive on local jeep or similar four wheels drive. Then following the Masrsyangdi River
downstream on leaving the Manang area behind after Tal Besi village.
As drive enters Lamjung district around low warm farm areas of paddy fields and terrace as ride leads past Syange to Besisar, the headquarter town of Lamjung district. At Besisar for refreshing stop as well change of vehicles into a bus or coach as per size of a group. From here on good road to join the main Kathmandu and Pokhara highway at Dumre town. As drive continues following Trisuli River for few hours, then uphill drive to enter Kathmandu valley and the city, on reaching at the main areas of Kathmandu close to Thamel area, transfer back to your hotel after a long interesting drive.

After a long tough and enjoyable adventure around Manaslu, we have spared a rest day for relaxation as well for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

02:How long is the trek is it a fixed departures?

The total days from arrival to final departure is 19 nights and 20 days, but the trekking portion is of 14 nights and 15 days. Yes, it is a fixed departure, where dates is in progress. But we run and organize for private groups as well minimum of 2-3 persons. Where a single person is not allowed as Manaslu falls in Restricted Area where minimum 2 people need to join. Includes special trekking permits to enter Upper Manaslu.

03:What types of accommodation and food available on treks?

Accommodation in local lodges is simple but nice, clean and cozy but smaller rooms. But at Dharmasala at the bottom of Larke-La pass, in peak season where some trekkers have to spend nights in tented camp. The foods are excellent in most large villages lodge and guest house. They were serving Continental, Chinese, Indian, Tibetan, and Nepal meals as per the menu provided. Some clubs also provide fresh bakery items also. The main preferred meal is Nepali Dal Bhat (boiled rice and lentil soup with seasonal vegetable and home-made hot sauce or mild pickle.

Every village have hydroelectricity power, and some smaller settlements like Dharmasala, Bhimthang, and Goha have solar power where trekkers can charge their electronic items by paying a fee per hour per item charged to the lodge owner.

06:Can we get hot showers and single room on treks?

Yes, nearly all villages provides hot or cold shower and bathe with hot water in a large bucket. Extra charge for using hot shower and bathe.
