Epic Adventures presents ‘Eastern Nepal Mundum High Trail Trekking & Mera Peak Climb’. Adventure to scenic high hills and mountains, off the beaten tracks on least, ventured remote pockets of Far Eastern Himalaya.
The Eastern Nepal Mundum High route seldom trekked and less visited region, walk-on serene trail away from the mainstream. One of the most enjoyable trekking on high hills following the Mundum ridges towards Solu-Khumbu around Everest via Salpa Pass. Glorious panorama of Eastern Himalaya range includes views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, and Baruntse Himal as far towards Kanchenjunga.
As the adventure continues towards high Khumbu, facing grand views of Karyolung, Numbur, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kantega with other famous mountains. The highlight of the Eastern Nepal Mundum High Trail Trekking with Mera Peak Climb, where walk leads to remote villages. Untouched and undisturbed by the main flow of trekkers that you experience on other major routes of Nepal Himalaya.
A perfect trek for travelers in search of pure wilderness, on least trekked areas walking on pristine surroundings. The adventure begins from Kathmandu taking a short sweeping flight to Bhojpur facing outmost views of Himalayan peaks.
From Central to Eastern Himalaya range, on arrival at Bhojpur town small airport, a short drive on a hilly road. An exciting ride on a local jeep to reach our starting point of trekking at Chekwa Bhanjyang, a farm village. Located on a high hill with a cooler climate at the height of 2,300 m high, from here our adventure starts.
The first-day trek begins on a gradual winding path for short while past farm terraces and spread out smaller villages and settlements. Then climb towards a cooler high ridge to reach Dhotre and Maiyum remote farm areas, facing grand scenery of dramatic landscapes. Overlooking rolling green hills and valleys with an array of snow peaks in the north, the adventure continues towards much higher areas. One of the best parts of the adventure walking on the scenic Mundum trail, with a climb to Rawa-Dhap and Lauribina. The highest spots at 3, 426 m before Salpa pass and towards Mera Peak around Hinku valley of Everest region.
Finally, adventure heads to another high spot of Salpa pass, for local known as Bhanjyang at 3,349 m. From the top fabulous views of Khumbu peaks within the close surrounding of beautiful rhododendron and pine forest. Salpa pass marks the boundary of Solu-Khumbu and Bhojpur districts, from the top downhill back to farm villages. As route leads through Sonam and Guidel nice and large villages, with a climb to the high ridge of Khiraule. A small pass called Surkhe-La then steep descend to reach a river that flows from Mera Peak and surrounding peaks.
After the bridge short climb to Pangbung village, populated by the Sherpa community, on entering high Khumbu of Everest region. Pangbung is the last permanent settlement, from here into the complete wilderness for many days till the adventure ends at Lukla town. Slowly climb takes you into the beautiful and hidden valley of Hinku, walking through a lovely forested path to Thaknak.
A small place with few simple huts serves as tea shops and lodge for travelers passing this route.
Where trail from Pangbung and Lukla route joins to Mera Peak and beyond, from Thaknak tree lines drops. As you enter a mountainous terrain of moraine, glaciers, and rocky ground to reach Mera Peak base camp. The final and major highlights of the adventure, having enough days for climbing preparation as well for acclimatization. Early morning before dawn, start the climb from High Camp a slow steady uphill walk on snow slope and ridge. Mera Peak, one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal, is a straightforward climb with less technical effort and difficulties.
The Climbing grade is ‘F’ means “Facial Easy” the grading system comes from French / Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification Systems. However, climbers should be fully equipped with climbing gear ice-axe, crampons, and good climbing boots to tackle the slippery section. Finally reach on top of Mera Peak summit at 6,461 m /21,190 feet high, rewards with a breathtaking panorama. Overlooking whole of Khumbu peaks that surround the top with world highest Everest, Makalu, Cho-Oyu as far towards Mt. Kanchenjunga.
On achieving all our targets and main highlights, return journey to Thaknak, and then back into the green forest. On leaving the last camp Thuli-Kharka around Hinku valley, the last climb of the trek to cross over Zatwar-La Pass.
From the pass enjoy fantastic views of Dudh Kosi valley with a range of peaks, then descend to Chutanga. Located on the base of Naulekh Himal and Zatwar-La Pass amidst a lovely forest of pines and rhododendron. From Chutanga a pleasant walk to Lukla, a large town and gateway to various adventure destinations around the Everest region.
Last overnight stop in the comfort of a nice lodge, a civilization with a great many facilities for trekkers. Next, early morning walk to Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport for a smooth scenic flight to Kathmandu. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,345 m and transfer to respective Hotels
Day 02: Kathmandu with sightseeing tour, trek briefing and preparations.
Day 03: Fly to Bhojpur airport 1,600 m - 45 mins and few hour drive to Chekwa Bhanjyang 2,300 m for overnight stop.
Day 04: Trek to Dhotre 2,752 m -06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Maiyum 2, 962 m near Hans Pokhari -05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Hykule 2, 972 m via Satdobato 3,122 m - 06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Rawa-Dhap 3,426 m via Lauribina 3,185 m -06 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Guranse 3,075 m near top of Salpa pass -06 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Guidel 1,640 m via Salpa pass 3, 349 m - 06 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Khiraule 2,360 m - 04 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Ghai Kharka 2,450 m via Surkhe-La (pass) 3,100 m - 06 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Pangbung 2,670 m -06 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Ningsow 2,863 m- 05 hrs.

Day 19: Acclimatization day at Khare and Pre-Climbing Training.
Day 20: Climb Mera High Camp 5,780 m / 18,958 ft.-04 hrs.
Day 21: Climb to Mera Peak 6,461 m /21,190 ft back to Khare - 08 hrs.
Day 22: Reserve Day as Contingency.
Day 23: Trek to Kothe - 06 hrs.
Day 24: Trek to Thuli-Kharka 4,300 m - 05 hrs.
Day 25: Trek to Lukla 2,820 m via Zatrwa La pass 4,610 m- 07 hrs.
Day 26: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 27: In Kathmandu free and spare day as contingency.
Day 28: International Departure for homeward bound.
